Scenes from a week on Makani

A note from your hosts

Come ride with us.

If you kite or wing, you already know the feeling of chasing good wind. This is a week of exactly that, shared with a small group of people who get it. Non-riding partners are welcome too; the boat, islands, swimming, food, and slow evenings make the week easy to love even off the water.

We have run these waters for years, so you can trust the calls on wind, spots, and safety, and just focus on your sessions. But the part guests remember most is the evenings: some nights out on vibrant islands, and other nights relaxing on the catamaran in beautiful quiet places, enjoying the company, the food, and the tranquility after a full day on the water.

Bring a friend or come solo and leave with new ones. We would love to have you aboard.

FAQ

Good To Know

Short answers before you talk with the host.

Where does the trip start?

In Paros (Paroikia). Fly direct to Paros, or via Athens or Mykonos and a short ferry. Meet by 17:00 on departure day; check-out is 10:00 the following week.

How long is the trip and when does it run?

Each trip is a full week, from boarding to checkout. Departures run every week through the season, from June to October, when the Meltemi is most reliable. Ask the hosts which weeks are open. Last minute bookings are welcome.

What does it cost?

The week is €2,000 per person, all-inclusive of hosting, crew, cabin, meals, and guiding. Gear rental is arranged separately on request.

What does fully guided mean?

The crew reads the forecast, picks the anchorage, runs the route, and keeps the tender close while you ride. You get the adventure without planning a single thing.

Why does the catamaran matter for riding?

Makani gives you access to spots you cannot reach by car and has a stern platform that makes launch support, landing support, and getting back on board much smoother for kite and wing sessions.

What is the boat like?

Makani has three private guest cabins, each with its own bathroom, plus open deck space for meals, rigging, relaxing, and moving between sessions. The group is capped at six guests.

What kind of rider is this best suited to?

Makani is best suited to riders who are already comfortable on the water and want access to Greek island conditions, guided spot choice, and a week built around wind and life on the boat. Beginner lessons are not part of the trip.

Can non-kiting or non-winging partners join?

Yes. Non-riding guests are absolutely welcome, and many love the trip for the sailing, swimming, beautiful anchorages, island visits, and the overall experience of living on the catamaran.

What is the route?

The route starts from Paros and stays flexible through the Cyclades. Wind, sea state, anchorages, and the group shape the week, so the boat can move toward the best riding and the best island stops.

Do we visit the Greek islands?

Yes. The days are built around wind and water, but most evenings we head ashore for a Cycladic village, a harbour walk, and a proper Greek dinner.

What is included?

The price reflects the quality of the full week: experienced hosting, attentive crew, healthy fresh meals, smooth logistics, and a guided kite or wing experience. It is clear up front, with no hidden fees. Gear rental can be arranged on request.

Can I bring my own gear?

Yes. Guests are welcome to travel with their own equipment, and rentals may also be available depending on what you need.

What are meals like, and can you handle dietary needs?

Fresh, Mediterranean-forward meals are prepared on board through the week. Let the hosts know about allergies or dietary preferences when you book and the crew will plan around them.

What should I bring?

Pack light: swimwear, sun protection, a light layer for evenings, and a soft bag rather than a hard suitcase for easy storage. Bring your own riding gear if you have it, or arrange a rental in advance. Towels and bedding are provided.

Can I book a cabin or the whole boat?

Both options are possible. The boat has 3 guest cabins, each sleeping 2 people with its own private bathroom. You can enquire about individual cabins or book the whole boat as a private group, depending on availability.
